How to Care for your Tattoo

The First 2-5 Days with your New Tattoo

-Please keep your bandage on for 2-5 days, unless otherwise specified by tattoo artist

-We use a ‘second skin’ bandage, which can be left on the tattoo longer than traditional bandages

-These bandages are transparent, meaning you will see all of the fluid and ink through the bandage, this may look unpleasant, but is nothing to be concerned about

-If fluid from your bandage starts to leak, with clean hands wipe with paper towel

-If leaking continues, wrap with clean paper towel and tape to area

-After 2-5 days and with clean hands, remove the bandage and dispose of it immediately

-Wash the tattoo thoroughly with mild unscented soap and warm water
Be sure to wash off all blood, ink, or plasma that has surfaced

-After you have washed your tattoo, allow the tattoo to air dry
Avoid using towels as the fibers can irritate a fresh tattoo

-Wash the tattoo once per day like this until healed

After Removing the Bandage

-Try not to soak your tattoo
avoid baths, swimming and hot tubs for at least one month

-When your tattoo starts looking like the photo on the right
(milky, dry, itchy) you can begin using a small amount of
unscented moisturizer

-Apply the unscented moisturizer 2-3 times per day,
be sure not to overdo it!
avoid using ointments such as vaseline & polysporin
as they do not allow the skin to breathe properly

While Healing your Tattoo…

-The healing process can last anywhere between 2-6 weeks, depending on your skin, the tattoo and the placement

-Flaking and scabbing during the healing process is normal, do not pick or scratch your skin

-Keep your tattoo out of the sun until it is completely healed (after it is healed, we recommend using SPF to keep the colours vibrant)

-Do not swim or take baths until your tattoo is completely healed
