Why You Should Get Tattooed During Shoulder Season

Shoulder season is the time of year between peak activities like biking or skiing. It’s that ‘in-between’ period, usually in fall and spring, when it’s not quite summer but not winter yet either. Mountain towns like Golden are quieter during this time, with fewer tourists and mild weather.

We think shoulder season is the perfect time to get tattooed, and here’s why:

Sun-Safe: In fall and spring, the sun isn’t as intense as it is in summer, which is great for healing tattoos. You know how UV rays can mess with tattoos and slow down healing? Getting tattooed during shoulder season means less sun exposure, so you can avoid fading and keep your ink looking fresh.

Sweat-Free: With cooler temps, you won’t have to worry about sweating while your tattoo heals. Sweating can irritate a fresh tattoo, but in fall and spring, that's less of an issue. It’s easier to stay comfortable and let your tattoo breathe without the heat.

Easier Aftercare: During shoulder season, you’re less likely to be hitting the slopes or soaking in hot tubs like you might in winter. That makes it easier to stick to your aftercare routine without interrupting the healing process. Just follow the instructions, and your tattoo will heal up nicely!

More Availability: Fewer people are lining up for tattoos during shoulder season compared to the summer rush. This means you have a better chance of booking an appointment with your favorite artist, who’s usually fully booked. So why not take advantage of the quieter times and finally get that tattoo you’ve been dreaming about?

Perfect Time for Self-Care: With things slowing down between busy seasons, shoulder season is the ideal time for some self-care. Your schedule might be lighter, so why not treat yourself to a tattoo while you have the time to relax?

Brett Davis and Austin Gregg from Humble Tattoo Co. in Golden, BC, are currently booking for November and December 2024. Let’s make that tattoo dream a reality this shoulder season!
